Wearable seizure detection
A wearable EEG system that detects seizures with machine learning running on a low-power embedded processor.
The Bioelectronics Laboratory is an engineering lab within the Feinstein Institutes. It is staffed by career engineers from several disciplines, together with interns, visiting scholars and students from our graduate school, the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell, and partner institutions.
Principal Investigator
Timir's research focuses on neural interfaces, closed-loop neuromodulation and implantable devices. The lab designs electronics with off-the-shelf parts and custom integrated circuits, develops polymer packaging for chronic implants, builds wireless power and telemetry for miniaturized devices, and makes wearable stimulators for clinical studies. Before joining the Feinstein Institutes in 2017, Timir was an investigator in the Neural Technologies Group at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, developing implantable neural interfaces to restore memory and treat neuropsychiatric disorders. Timir holds BS, MS and PhD degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park, with a doctoral thesis on integrating CMOS circuits with living systems for hybrid bioelectronic sensing.
Research Scientist
